SALEM, Ore. ? A mother and three children were found dead by responders to?a house fire in northeast Salem early?Tuesday, and the body of the woman's husband ? described by police as a "person of interest" ? was later discovered?in?a?vehicle about 80 miles south of the crime scene.

Investigators said it appeared that the three young children and?adult female died of "homicidal violence" and not due to the fire, Salem police Lt. Dave Okada said.

Firefighters pulled the four bodies from the burning home about 6:30 a.m.

The husband was found dead about 11 a.m. inside a vehicle in Cottage Grove, Okada said.

"At this time investigators believe this to be a domestic-related murder-suicide situation," Okada said.

A sixth body was found alongside the road about a mile from the home Tuesday morning. Police said it wasn't known whether that death was related.

Police haven't released any names.

"It was just really surreal what was going on down there," said Dan Grove, a neighbor. "I basically witnessed people screaming and saying that there were people in the house, and I just feel bad for the family."

Mobile security researchers present Android Malware Genome Project at IEEE

Mobile security researchers announce Android Malware Genome Project at IEEEAndroid's openness, combined with its popularity, has lead a few of the developer faithful astray -- with malware being a legitimate concern for the mobile operating system. To help combat the issue, Xuxian Jiang, an NC State researcher, has created the Android Malware Genome Project, which was presented at the IEEE Symposium on Security this week. The aim is to collect and analyse all the known malicious software, and share the findings so that more effective and preventative measures to be taken by the community. Jiang claims that the main drawback has been understanding the malware, and getting access to examples, something the project aims to solve. More than 1,200 malware samples have been collected so far, and if you're curious, the dataset is available for download via the source.

Spotify now live in Australia and New Zealand

Android Central

It's been a long time coming, but finally our friends in Australia and New Zealand can enjoy the Spotify service as it has launched down under. By now, Spotify needs no introduction, but its arrival in another new market is welcomed. As a 'celebration' of the launch, a special Australian themed playlist has been put together by Spotify to get everyone started.

The service you'll be interested in as a reader of this site, is the Spotify Premium, which includes the ability to listen to music on your Android device. In Australia, you're looking at $11.99 a month for this, and $12.99 in New Zealand.

We've included download links to the Spotify app below to get you started. But, there's a newer -- and much better -- preview version available directly from Spotify themselves. We did a little hands on back in April when it first emerged, so don't forget to head over and give it a read.

Specific Kinds Of Sleep Apnea And The Excellent Snoring Solutions ...

There are two forms of sleep apnea, central and obstructive sleep apnea. What differ would be the underlying causes, symptoms and treatments are very similar. Plus you?ve got to identify which kind of snoring problem you?ve, in order to find the effective snoring solutions for you.

Snoring is a thing that often is in comparison to sleep apnea. Snoring is a kind of sign of disease, snoring is something that?s common but it is not too all snore.

?

Osa (OSA)

?

Just like the remaining body, your throat relaxes even mouth, nose, larynx and pharynx whenever we sleep. When they get too relaxed, it can get very crowded in the airways. That?s one reason many people commence to snore; the answer for this is actually a snore track. In some cases it may be challenging to breath.

?

When the airway becomes completely blocked, this may lead to snore. This will hold your breathing from 10 seconds up to one full minute. The most common form of sleep apnea is obstructive, plus it means a person suffers repeated pauses in breathing during your sleep. Sometimes, the stops may be as many times as several hundred times per night. Learn more about snoring risks at www.snoring-remedies-and-snore-aids.com.

?

The situation with breathing pauses is the oxygen level in blood drops. Due to our brain, we can do this because it then responds to an alarm reaction, which means we begin to breathe again. This reaction is totally automated; we do not have to think to the to happen. Whoever is impacted by the recall is usually nothing of what happened if this wakes up the subsequent morning.

?

In terms of how common the disorder is and how big and dangerous side effects are so situated on the top around the priority insomnia issues. The long-term response to sleep apnea is devastating. Probably the most serious symptoms are temporary, repeated breathing stops, which mean the individual is not getting enough air and oxygen for a lot of their sleep. The problem is that the victim?s respiratory pathways are blocked to a great extent and the body responds by bringing the victims thus won?t get his necessary deep sleep.

?

This obviously interferes with the individual?s sleep to cause a heavy fatigue that is difficult to cure sleep as you cannot get oxygen and for that reason does not get his sleep. It?ll be very harmful to the victim.

?

The snoring solution ? a CPAP?

?

The most common treatment for anti snoring is thus CPAP breathing machine. It is a device which makes it easier to breathe during sleep because CPAP?en creates a continuous air pressure. The unit allows the airways do not collapse, but is capable of delivering the oxygen for the body and lungs.

?

When treated with a CPAP so, pressurized air into the lungs via a breathing mask and also the patient?s breathing becomes normal. The good thing with the better CPAP machines is because they are flexible and can adapt to patient needs. The reason is all people have different serious difficulties with the collapse of the respiratory system, differs overweight, etc. and so the pressure may be adjusted towards the patient.

?

To be able to end your snoring problem, go and grab your own CPAP device at http://www.snoring-remedies-and-snore-aids.com/snoring-remedies-and-snore-aids-store/.

Senate toughens Iran penalties over nuke program

WASHINGTON (AP) ? Intent on weakening Iran economically, the Senate on Monday approved tough new penalties on the Tehran regime to thwart its nuclear ambitions.

By voice vote, the Senate backed the measure ahead of talks between leading nations and Iran in Baghdad on Wednesday. The bill would target Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps, require companies that trade on the U.S. stock exchange to disclose any Iran-related business to the Securities and Exchange Commission and would expand penalties for energy and uranium mining joint ventures with Tehran.

The bill also would deny visas and freeze assets on individuals and companies that supply Iran with technology that could be used to crack down on its citizens, such as tear gas, rubber bullets and surveillance equipment.

Both the Obama administration and the international community have imposed tough sanctions on Iran over its nuclear development program, which Iran maintains is for peaceful purposes only.

"Any comprehensive policy that seeks to end Iran's effort to acquire a nuclear weapon needs to convince the rulers in Tehran that their survival is in question," Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said in a statement. "While sanctions are one part of convincing the Supreme Leader that the costs of pursuing this weapon outweigh any perceived benefit, Senate Republicans insisted that the Senate pass nothing less than the president's commitment that all options are on the table, in order to prevent any contrary perception that silence on the use of force would have created."

Last Thursday, Senate Republicans blocked consideration of the bill, insisting that it include language stating that the use of military force is an option, as Obama has said. Negotiations through the weekend produced a bill that was acceptable to Democrats and Republicans.

Sen. Bob Menendez, D-N.J., a leading proponent of tough penalties on Iran, said the legislation sends a clear message to Tehran in advance of the talks: "Provide a real and verifiable plan for the complete dismantling of your nuclear weapons program, or Washington will further tighten the economic noose."

Said Sen. Mark Kirk, R-Ill., "Today the U.S. Senate put Iranian leaders on notice that they must halt all uranium enrichment activities or face another round of economic sanctions from the United States."

Last year, the Senate voted 100-0 for a measure sponsored by Menendez and Kirk to the annual defense bill that targeted financial institutions that do business with Iran's Central Bank. President Barack Obama signed the wide-ranging defense bill on Dec. 31.

In a rare bipartisan vote in February, the Senate Banking Committee, led by Sens. Tim Johnson, D-S.D., and Richard Shelby, R-Ala., overwhelmingly approved the sanctions. Johnson and Shelby said tougher penalties were necessary to deter Tehran from pursuing a nuclear weapon.

Among the provisions of the legislation is an expansion of U.S. sanctions to include companies involved in joint energy ventures anywhere in the world in which Tehran is a significant partner or investor. The penalties also would apply if Iran receives energy technology or information that wasn't previously available to the government.

Penalties also would be imposed on companies involved in a joint venture with Iran in the mining, production or transportation of uranium. Individuals who agree to abandon such projects within six months would be exempt from the penalties.

The legislation would require the president to identify and designate officials, affiliates and agents of the Revolutionary Guard Corps. These individuals would be subject to sanctions and barred from the United States. Individuals or companies that engage in transactions with the Revolutionary Guard Corps, even through bartering, also would be subject to sanctions.

Penalties also would be mandatory for shippers or insurers who knowingly aid the shipment of materials that contribute to Iran's weapons of mass destruction or terrorism-related activities.

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., attempted on March 27 to secure quick approval of the legislation with no amendments, but Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., pushed to add language stating that the bill was not an authorization to use military force. Reid also faced a challenge from Kirk, who pressed for nine additional amendments.

The new version of the bill includes elements of amendments that Kirk and Menendez had proposed, including tougher sanctions against companies that engage in or back censorship in Iran.

In a letter to Senate leaders last week, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, the powerful pro-Israel lobby, praised the bipartisan legislation and Congress for forcing "Iran's leaders to face the choice between compliance with its international obligations and international opprobrium."

Other issues are certain to be part of a House-Senate conference to produce a final version of the legislation.

More Details about http:// here.

If you are looking for professional electrical work for installation of solar systems or otherwise in Derby, Derbyshire, you will be amazed at the numbers you will find in the local yellow pages. But before you actually settle on for yourself, there are a few things that you will need to consider. For starters, is your electrical job for a home or for a commercial space? The kind of electricians and specialization varies for both. This will help you sort through the large list of names that you have and bring them down a bit. The next is to look into the experience that each of these companies have in solar set ups and any other areas you need. The longer they have been in business the more steady they can be considered. However, do not keep this as a very strong criterion to work with. There are several newer establishments that have upgraded themselves with the latest of technology and can do an equally good job. Your next level of narrowing down on names can be based on a review of those who have employed such agencies. Reviews can be found in several ways. You can choose the easiest and go by what is available online. Another more reliable means would be to approach the closest best services agency and ask them for recommendations based on the kind of work you have. You can also ask around with friends and neighbors for domestic electricians and nearby businesses for a commercial one. All of these will take care of the problem of having to vet the credentials of the service provider. Now once you have your handful of names, there are few things that you have to ensure that they provide. The first is that they are available round the clock and through the week irrespective of holidays and timings. Generally large service providers have teams or a sets of freelancers that they depend on. With this in place you will have to ask them for copies of their licensing and insurance. The insurance has to cover destruction of property when on your premise as well accidental coverage when on the job for the professional. Ask them for references and make sure that you speak to at least one of them. This will give you a good idea of how work is done and the quality they provide. Discussing the kind of materials used, and the warranty that comes with all of this is also important. And finally, make sure that all details of your job, especially if it is a big one is detailed in a contract.

Retirement living In Ontario-Choice Of Many Baby Boomers

The rising number of elderly will likely have a great impact on the increasing number of the facilities of retirement living in Ontario. As a plethora of people near retirement age, they will likely alter the definition of what it means to be retired. Most of the senior citizens today are looking for a more active lifestyle. Many of these elderly don't really want to retire actually, and some will work part-time for the rest of their lives. There is also a group of elderly who view retirement as being a time where they can enjoy hobbies and other things they are interested in.

As a matter of fact, in order to serve this large market, a plethora of destination retirement communities have been established in the recent times. These communities are targeted towards elderly who want low living expenses, or who prefer to live in warm climates.

For other senior citizens, living close to family members is very important. While these people may want to move into a place that is smaller, they will not want to leave the comfort of the communities they live in right now. The primary aim of destination retirements is to create an environment where elderly can relax with a large number of amenities. These places will usually be located near golf courses, hiking trails, spas, and fitness centers. These places are designed so that those who live there can enjoy themselves.

More to the point, the housing facilities that are built in these communities will use materials that are easy to maintain, and they will be open and easy to access. Because those living in these places will be older, it uses a design which will cater to them. Their lives will be easy because their bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchens will be designed in a way that is easy for them to use. These communities of retirement living in Ontario will change the definition of retirement. Because of many valuable luxuries they offer, they are an excellent choice for seniors who want to leave their homes.

According to the recent studies more than 60% of baby boomers said they were interested in moving into a retirement community, while over 50% said that they would like to move to a warmer climate. Furthermore, a large percentage also indicates that they are planning to purchase a facility of retirement living in Ontario. Despite all this, many people who took these polls also indicated that they won't to stay close to their family members. The primary goal of many elderly is to pursue interests that they never had time to pursue while they were younger.

AdWatch: Romney "day one" vows are missing caveats

WASHINGTON (AP) ? TITLE: "Day One"

LENGTH: 30 seconds

AIRING: Romney is spending roughly $1.3 million to run the ad in Iowa, North Carolina, Virginia and Ohio

KEY IMAGES: Romney does not speak in the ad, which shows video and still photos of him speaking to voters, along with separate images of construction equipment and workers in hard hats, underscoring the campaign's focus on the economy.

SCRIPT: Backed by upbeat music, a male narrator says that Romney would, on "Day One," approve the Keystone XL pipeline to create "thousands of jobs," introduce tax cuts and "begin replacing" President Barack Obama's health care overhaul, which the narrator calls Obamacare. "That's what a Romney presidency would look like," the narrator concludes.

ANALYSIS: In his first television advertisement of the general election, Romney is reinforcing his focus on the economy while attacking two of Obama's more polarizing policies in a nod to skeptical conservatives ? along with some independents ? in battleground states. The campaign also produced a Spanish version of the ad, acknowledging the growing political influence of the nation's Hispanics.

The positive tone is a stark contrast to the latest ad from Obama's re-election campaign, which attacks Romney's business career. The tone is not a surprise, however, for a Republican candidate who is still unknown by large swaths of the electorate. Romney is trying to brighten his image before Obama can define him in a less flattering way.

But Romney's ad oversimplifies complicated issues and exaggerates his potential influence as president. He's outlining plans he can't accomplish on his first day in office without significant cooperation from parties beyond his control.

The narrator promises Romney would issue an order "to begin replacing Obamacare" on his first day in office. While he sometimes gets big cheers on the campaign trail by promising to repeal the law, Romney knows he cannot do away with Obama's landmark health care bill on his own. His use of the word, "begin" gives him some wiggle room but also hedges the "day one" theme.

Romney has outlined plans to issue an executive order allowing individual states to opt out of the federal legislation. While his authority to do so is unclear, it is clear that a full repeal of the law promises to be as much a slog as was its creation. With the help of Congress, Romney could try to strip the law's funding. But congressional cooperation would depend on the balance of power on Capitol Hill next year.

Full repeal of the law would be an even steeper climb. It would require a larger Republican congressional majority to move forward and to clinch 60 votes in the Senate ? all this as the law increasingly takes root in the nation's medical and insurance system.

But Romney's decision to address health care in his premier ad speaks directly to skeptical conservatives who refused to support the former Massachusetts governor during the bitter GOP primary. Their reluctance was due, in part, to Romney's support as governor for a Massachusetts bill that contains the same individual mandate to buy insurance as Obama's bill.

Romney addresses another red-meat issue in going after the Keystone XL pipeline, which would carry oil from tar sands in western Canada to refineries on the Texas Gulf Coast. Obama blocked the pipeline earlier this year amid questions over its route through environmentally sensitive land in Nebraska.

Obama's decision drew fire from Republicans and industry groups who say it delays creation of thousands of jobs and hampers new oil production that could help reduce dependence on oil from the Middle East.

Romney's statement that he would approve the pipeline on day one is missing some caveats.

For one, it is possible that the project may already be approved before the next presidential term begins in January. If Romney were to be elected and inherit the issue, the need for environmental reviews would still exist, and they may not be completed immediately. The pipeline also is subject to review by Nebraska, whose officials have said their evaluation of a new route will take six to nine months.

Finally, Romney's promise to introduce tax cuts that "reward job creators" oversimplifies a plan that could have huge ramifications for the nation's taxpayers. Tax cuts would add to the federal deficit, which Romney has vowed to shrink. He says any tax cuts would be paid for by closing certain deductions and loopholes but has refused to provide any details on plans that may ultimately affect popular deductions like those on mortgage interest.

UK surveillance program could expose private lives

(AP) ? British officials have given their word: "We won't read your emails."

But experts say the government's proposed new surveillance program will gather so much data that spooks won't have to read your messages to guess what you're up to.

The U.K. Home Office stresses it won't be reading the content of every Britons' communications, saying the data it seeks "is NOT the content of any communication." It is, however, looking for information about who's sending the message and to whom, where it's sent from and other details, including a message's length and its format.

The proposal, unveiled last week as part of the government's annual legislative program, is just a draft bill, so it could be modified or scrapped. But if passed in its current form, it would put a huge amount of personal data at the government's disposal, which it could use to deduce a startling amount about Britons' private lives ? from sleep patterns to driving habits or even infidelity.

"We're really entering a whole new phase of analysis based on the data that we can collect," said Gerald Kane, an information systems expert at Boston College. "There is quite a lot you can learn."

The ocean of information is hard to fathom. Britons generate 4 billion hours of voice calls and 130 billion text messages annually, according to industry figures. In 2008, the BBC put the annual number of U.K.-linked emails at around 1 trillion.

Then there are instant messaging services run by companies such as BlackBerry, Internet telephone services such as Skype, chat rooms, and in-game services like those used by World of Warcraft.

Communications service providers, who would log all that back-and-forth, believe the government's program would force them to process petabytes (1 quadrillion bytes) of information every day. It's a mind-boggling amount of data, on the scale of every book, movie and piece of music ever released.

So even without opening emails, how much can British spooks learn about who's sending them?

THEY'LL SEE THE RED FLAGS

Did you know how fast you were going?

Your phone does.

If you sent a text from London before stepping behind the wheel, and a second one from a service station outside Manchester three hours later, authorities could infer that you broke the speed limit to cover the roughly 200 miles that separate the two.

Crunching location data and communications patterns gives a remarkably rich view of people's lives ? and their misadventures.

Ken Altshuler, of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, raves about the benefits smartphones and social media have brought to savvy divorce attorneys. Lawyers don't need sophisticated data mining software to spot evidence of infidelity or hints of hidden wealth when they review phone records or text traffic, he said.

"One name, one phone number that's not on our client's radar, and our curiosity is piqued," he said. The more the communication ? a late-night text sent to a work colleague, an unexplained international phone call ? is out of character, "the more of a red flag we see."

THEY'LL KNOW WHEN YOU'RE SLEEPING

The ebb and flow of electronic communication ?that call to your mother just before bed, that early-morning email to your boss saying you'll be late ? frames our waking lives.

"You can figure somebody's sleep patterns, their weekly pattern of work," said Tony Jebara, a Columbia University expert on artificial intelligence. In 2006, he helped found New York-based Sense Networks, which crunches phone data to do just that.

Jebara said that calls made from the same location from 9 to 5 are a good indication of where a person works; the frequency of email traffic to or from a person's work account is a good hint of his or her work ethic; dramatic changes to a person's electronic routine might suggest a promotion ? or a layoff.

"You can quickly figure out when somebody lost their job," Jebara said, adding: "Credit card companies have been interested in that for a while."

THEY'LL KNOW WHO'S THE BOSS

Drill down, and communication can reveal remarkably rich information. For example, does office worker A answer office worker B's missives within minutes of the message being sent? Does B often leave colleagues' emails unanswered for hours on end? If so, B probably stands for "boss."

That's an example of what Jebara's Columbia colleagues call "automated social hierarchy detection," a technique that can infer who gives the orders, who's respected and who's ignored based purely on whose emails get answered and how quickly. In 2007, they analyzed traffic from the Enron Corporation's email archive to correctly guess the seniority of several top-level managers.

Intelligence agencies may not need such tools to untangle corporate flowcharts, but identifying ringleaders becomes more important when tracking a suspected terrorist cell.

"If you piece together the chain of influence, then you can find the central authority," he said. "You can figure that out without looking at the content."

THEY'LL KNOW WHO YOU'RE TALKING TO

Seeing how networks of people communicate isn't just about finding your boss. It's about figuring out who your friends are.

Programs already exist to determine the density of communications ? something that can identify close groups of friends or family without even knowing who's who. If one user is identified as suspicious, then users closest to him or her might get a second look as well.

"Let's say we find out somebody in the U.K. is a terrorist," said Kane. "You know exactly who he talks to on almost every channel, so BOOM you know his 10 closest contacts. Knowing that information not only allows you to go to his house, but allows you to go to their houses as well."

A SNOOPER'S CHARTER?

Detective work at the stroke of a key is clearly attractive to spy agencies. British officialdom has been pushing for a mass surveillance program for years. But civil libertarians are perturbed, branding the proposal a "snooper's charter."

Kane says the surveillance regime has to be seen in the context of social networks such as Facebook and LinkedIn, where hundreds of millions of people are constantly volunteering information about themselves, their friends, their family and their colleagues.

"There's no sense in getting all Big Brother-ish," he said. "The bottom line is that we're all leaving digital trails, everywhere, all the time. The whole concept of privacy is shifting daily."

New metal mix could lead to cheap, plentiful sodium-ion batteries in gadgets

Image

Lithium batteries very frequently power our gadgets, but the material itself isn't common and, by extension, isn't cheap. Researchers at the Tokyo University of Science aim to solve that through sodium-ion batteries using a new electrode material. By mixing together oxides of iron, manganese and sodium, Shinichi Komaba and team have managed to get a sodium battery's electrode holding a charge closer to that of a lithium-ion battery while using a much more abundant material. Having just 30 total charges means this simplest form of sodium-ion battery technology could be years away from finding a home in your next smartphone or EV, although it's not the only option. Argonne National Laboratory's Chris Johnson has co-developed a more exotic vanadium pentoxide electrode that could produce 200 charges while keeping the battery itself made out of an ingredient you more often find in your table salt than your mobile gear.

Japan will be without electricity from nuclear power for the first time in four decades when the reactor at Tomari nuclear plant on the northern island of Hokkaido goes offline for routine maintenance.

After last year's March 11 quake and tsunami set off meltdowns at the Fukushima Dai-ichi plant, no reactor halted for checkups has been restarted amid public worries about the safety of nuclear technology.

"Today is a historical day," Masashi Ishikawa shouted to a crowd gathered at a Tokyo park, some holding traditional "koinobori" carp-shaped banners for Children's Day that have become a symbol of the anti-nuclear movement.

"There are so many nuclear plants, but not a single one will be up and running today, and that's because of our efforts," Ishikawa said.

The activists said it is fitting that the day Japan is stopping nuclear power coincides with Children's Day because of their concerns about protecting children from radiation, which Fukushima Dai-ichi is still spewing into the air and water.

The government has been eager to restart nuclear reactors, warning about blackouts and rising carbon emissions as Japan is forced to turn to oil and gas for energy.

Japan now requires reactors to pass new tests to withstand quakes and tsunami and to gain local residents' approval before restarting.

The response from people living near nuclear plants has been mixed, with some wanting them back in operation because of jobs, subsidies and other benefits to the local economy.

Major protests, like the one Saturday, have been generally limited to urban areas like Tokyo, which had received electricity from faraway nuclear plants, including Fukushima Dai-ichi.

Before the nuclear crisis, Japan relied on nuclear power for a third of its electricity.

The crowd at the anti-nuclear rally, estimated at 5,500 by organizers, shrugged off government warnings about a power shortage. If anything, they said, with the reactors going offline one by one, it was clear the nation didn't really need nuclear power.

Whether Japan will suffer a sharp power crunch is still unclear.

Electricity shortages are expected only at peak periods, such as the middle of the day in hot weather, and critics of nuclear power say proponents are exaggerating the consequences to win public approval to restart reactors.

Hokkaido Electric Power Co. spokesman Kohei Ofusa said Saturday's shutdown was proceeding as planned. Power generation was gradually being reduced, with all operations expected to end at 11 p.m. (1400 GMT), he said.

Yoko Kataoka, a retired baker who was dancing to the music at the rally waving a small paper Koinobori, said she was happy the reactor was being turned off.

"Let's leave an Earth where our children and grandchildren can all play without worries," she said, wearing a shirt that had, "No thank you, nukes," handwritten on the back.

France jails physicist for terror

A French court has sentenced a scientist at the prestigious Cern laboratory to five years in prison for plotting terrorist attacks.

Adlene Hicheur was arrested in 2009 after police intercepted his emails to an alleged contact in al-Qaeda.

The emails suggested Algerian-born Hicheur was willing to be part of an "active terrorist unit", attacking targets in France.

Defence lawyers argued that their client had never been part of a plot.

Hicheur, who is a particle physicist, worked as a researcher studying the origins of the universe at Cern.

His father embraced him in the Paris courtroom before he was taken away to prison.

Suspicion

Hicheur has already spent two and a half years in jail while awaiting trial.

He came under suspicion when threatening messages were sent to President Sarkozy in early 2008.

The security services uncovered a series of email exchanges between Hicheur and an alleged al-Qaeda member called Mustapha Debchi.

After his arrest in 2009 police found a large quantity of Islamist literature at his parents' home.

At the start of his trial the 35-year-old scientist admitted that he had been going through a psychologically "turbulent" time in his life when he wrote the emails.

He had suffered a serious back injury, for which he had been taking morphine.

But he always denied he intended to carry out any attacks.

His lawyer, Patrick Baudouin, described the verdict as "scandalous".

"Everything has been done to demonise him," he said.

Hicheur has not yet decided whether or not to appeal.

If he decides not to, with time off for good behaviour, he should be released soon, Mr Baudouin said.

'Avengers,' Inside The Fights: Five Secrets Revealed

Fight coordinator Jonathan Eusebio leads MTV News through the movie's biggest battles.
By Kevin P. Sullivan

As you're watching "The Avengers" on the big screen, it's easy to forget that the heroes you see fighting the alien invaders are actually paid actors and that those actors learned their moves not from a secret government agency like S.H.I.E.L.D., but from fight coordinator Jonathan Eusebio.

Eusebio spoke with MTV News in the lead-up to Marvel's ultimate crossover to walk us through each key fight scene.

There are some minor spoilers ahead, so if you haven't seen "The Avengers" yet, consider yourself warned.

Black Widow in Chair
"Joss [Whedon] already had in his head how he wants the fight to look and how he thinks she would get out of this situation. He gave us notes on what he wants, and we design the fight around those notes. We choreograph it. We show it to him. There are more notes, and we just keep changing it until he's 100 percent happy.

"The chair makes it interesting. You need some kind of gimmick to make the fight different and to give it some interesting story point. Her being strapped to a chair and being interrogated, we already have the premise set out for us. We just have to be inventive on how to get her out.

"The hardest part is that it's very hard to be mobile, even moving around fighting with that thing strapped to your back. There are a lot of things that have to go along with it. We have to find the right chair at the right height, so that we can stand with it, that we can move around with it."

Thor vs. Iron Man vs. Captain America
"With those kinds of fights that involve a lot of digital effects, we have the base things outlined. When they're actually interacting with each other, that's our job with the stunt people. When Iron Man and Thor are throwing each other around up in the air, there's kind of a handoff from practical people to computer-generated people. Each department has to work together to make it seamless.

"What makes it interesting is all of them there together; you're trying to do your best to stay true to what people identify as their characteristics. There's no one character that I find more fascinating. What's interesting is the dynamic between five or six people and keeping them different enough to make it fresh."

Hawkeye vs. Black Widow
"The thing about these two characters is that they're not superhuman in the sense that the other superheroes are, so you just have these two agents with vast skill sets. For Jeremy [Renner] and Scarlett [Johansson], they had to really train hard because they're not just fighting aliens or computer-generated guys; they're fighting each other also. A lot of their training involved them working out together quite a bit.

"We cover a mix of different martial arts, but more practical martial arts, a mix of karate, jujitsu, judo, Pilipino martial arts, muay Thai boxing. It's a bunch of different elements of a bunch of practical martial arts."

Hulk vs. Thor
"The Hulk is completely computer-generated, but Chris Hemsworth had to actually interact with a person during that whole skirmish. We had a stunt double for the Hulk, so Chris was interacting with him the whole time you see the Hulk onscreen. The Hulk's also three or four feet taller than Thor is, so visual effects had to keep reminding us, 'This is where the Hulk's head is. This is how long the Hulk's reach is.' We had to work side-by-side with them for that whole sequence."

The Big Finale
"We had a team of 20 or so stunt men for the whole run of the movie. Not only did we have doubles for all the actors, but for Loki's army, we had a whole crop of stunt men, 10 to 12 core guys. All we did is choreograph huge action pieces for the whole last sequence. When that sequence actually came up, we already had really good pieces choreographed and rehearsed with most of the actors and the stunt people.

"It was really good that the actors trained really hard. There were some days that were tough and we had to make stuff up on the spot, and not just individual one-on-one type pieces. It would be pieces where it's eight-on-one, and the actors would pick it up on the spot, that day. I was pretty proud of the fact that they could adapt to changes on the spot. There's a Thor-Captain America team-up in the street, that one we pieced together pretty quick the day before we were going to shoot it. I think that turned out really good."

Check out everything we've got on "Marvel's The Avengers."
